Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

This surgery is beneficial for many. Dr. Neal has performed over 3,000 of these surgeries since 1987. FESS is used to improve many aspects of disease, including excruciating sinus headaches, chronic bad breath, inability to breathe out of one’s nose, chronic post-nasal drip and sore throats, poor sense of smell, constantly plugged sinuses, chronic sinusitis, intractable asthma, and nasal polyps. The procedure is performed endoscopically through the nostrils with the use of small instruments to help reduce recovery time. There is no bruising and Dr. Neal routinely avoids nasal packing. Most patients will say that the pain from this procedure is generally less than the symptoms were before the procedure.

Middle Ear Surgery

Middle ear surgery includes many different procedures: repair broken ear drums, repair or replace the hearing bones (hammer, anvil and stirrup), remove chronic infection or inflammatory disease from the mastoid cavity or insert pressure equalizing tubes to improve hearing.

Snoring Surgery

If you have problems sleeping due to the snoring of your partner, tell them about this surgery. It can eliminate many causes of snoring, resulting in a more restful night's sleep.

Functional Nasal Surgery

Functional nasal surgery is usually a two-part procedure resulting in easier breathing through the nose. A septoplasty straightens and centers the dividing wall of the nose--or nasal septum. If the septum is crooked, it can impair air flow through one nostril.

The second part of the surgery reduces the turbinates or lateral structures inside the nose that enlarge with chronic allergies and inflammation.

Salivary Gland Excision

This is commonly done for salivary stones, chronic infection or an apparent neoplasm.

Excision of Tonsils (Tonsillectomy)

This surgery can  eliminate conditions like chronic tonsillitis, tonsil stone formation and bad breath, acute tonsillitis or recurrent strep throat, obstructive sleep apnea, snoring or peritonsillar abscesses.

This is the surgical removal of  some lymphoid tissue similar to tonsils. Adenoids are in the very back of the nose where it becomes the throat. They can be removed for several reasons including impaired breathing, or chronic ear infections if the adenoids block the Eustachian tube openings.

Skin Cancers and Skin Grafting/flap reconstruction

Skin grafting involves borrowing skin from one part of the body, to put it on another. This is usually done in conjunction with the removal of skin cancer or burns. Dr. Neal can perform local skin flaps and reconstruction without skin grafts, typically.
